The Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association has partnered with Battle Creek Parks and Recreation, and Cereal City Development Corporation to offer affordable hockey to local residents of all ages. Ice hockey is available for everyone from age 3 through older adult at all skills levels. From first-time skaters, to players with advance skills, ice hockey is accessible for everyone.
Safe: Ice hockey is one of the safest youth sports. Unlike soccer, baseball, and basketball, our players are fully padded, making injuries almost impossible. Our trained and certified coaching staff will ensure your child participates in a safe environment.
Teaching and Training: Our entire coaching staff is trained and certified by USA Hockey. We know that in order for your child to have a worthwhile experience, we need to provide coaches that can instruct to children at their level. From the first day, we will instill discipline, self esteem and the desire to succeed. We will teach proper skating and ice hockey techniques, all in a safe and fun environment. Unlike other sports where only kids that are "fast on their feet" excel, in ice hockey everyone starts at the same point. It doesn't matter if kids are "athletically challenged"; when they learn how to skate they can be as fast as anyone on the ice.
Affordable: Our ice hockey program is now within everyone's means. For around $6.00 per skate ($12.00) per week, your child can keep busy during the winter months, participating in a physically rewarding experience.
Retention rates: In the last four years, our retention rates for our Learn to Skate program are over 90%. This rates youth ice hockey as one of the most successful programs of all youth sports. The reason youth ice hockey retention rates are so high is because we teach the skills necessary for your child to be successful in a safe, fun, and disciplined environment. At the end of the day, your child will have FUN, while learning and refining essential physical and mental skills.
